Better, cheaper options exist for full garbage cans

$50,000 per year for electronic garbage cans? Surely doubling the amount of staff for $10,000 a year less would be more cost effective.

How about add some more bins where the existing ones get full too quickly? Less frequent emptying of the ones that don’t fill quickly? Or even just moving the ones that don’t get used to areas that are busier.

Buying a better design of non-electronic bin if the lids are that much of an issue, one that doesn’t come with a huge monthly overhead?

Or other seemingly obvious, and more cost effective answers to the stated issues.

If the city has so much excess money that it can’t find something better to spend it on, then maybe that could just lower our taxes!
