May 2, 1969 — K & K WEEK

The 24th annual observance of Kamloops & Kokanee Week on Lake Pend Oreille, one of the nation’s oldest and most unique trout fishing events, begins May 3. Anglers will compete for nearly $700 in cash prizes in the 8-day event.

NEW CLINIC BUILDING

Dr. J.P Munson announced that his new office building, at 502 N. Second, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for an open house. The building, begun last fall, also includes apartment space on the lower level facing Sand creek.

Matt May, who had surgery for appendicitis at Bonner General Sunday, is home now doing fine. Mrs. May is trying to keep him quiet til Monday.

Spring has sprung or has it? We have our doubts after the new snow which whitened the ground on April 24. The Wayne Thompsons did see a wood chuck in their yard trying to find a choice spot for a nest.

Pend d’Oreille Review

May 2, 1919 — SANDPOINT IS OVER

E.D. Farmin said today that Sandpoint went over the top of its $100,000 quota for the Victory bond. This was done without a solicitor being sent out. “We may be proud of the record,” said Mr. Farmin. The county’s quota is $185,000 and he predicts Bonner county will show an oversubscription. The drive closes May 10.

CLEAN-UP TIME OBSERVED

The cleaning up of yards and premises is going merrily on and 60 loads of rubbish were taken up by city teams Wednesday alone. The Civic club ladies are urging property owners not only to clean up their yards but the parkings as well. Sidewalks should be also fixed and the ladies are urging the city to see that old paper is removed from in front of billboards and that the rear of the stores along the creek be cleaned up.

SUMMER SCHOOL SESSION

Provisions are being made to conduct half day school sessions for pupils who lost time this year through illness or other causes.

SMITH BRINGS WORD FROM ACROSS

Congressman Addison T. Smith has returned from a month’s visit to the European battlefields. A dispatch from Washington quotes him as stating that the old Second Idaho regiment, now with the army of occupation in Germany, will be retained abroad until some time in July.
