Paul Sterling Diefenbach, 85

Paul Sterling Diefenbach, 85, resident of East Hope, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Providence Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington.

He will be laid to rest at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington, at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, under the auspices of Spirit Lake Lodge No. 57 A.F. & A.M.

Paul was born on June 20, 1933, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Bill and Eleanor Diefenbach. The family moved to Hope in 1943. Paul graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1951. He then served his country in the United States Army.

Paul obtained his education through the GI Bill in auto mechanics and electronics. He owned a small TV and radio repair shop in Hope. He also was East Hope’s water operator for 34 years, retiring in 2018 at the age of 84.

Paul was a member of Spirit Lake Lodge No. 57 A.F. & A.M. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting throughout the years. He is survived by lifelong friends in the Hope area.
