Lori McAvoy Thompson

Lori Alyn McAvoy Thompson, 57, passed away early in the morning on Monday, April 22, 2019 from complications of metastatic breast cancer.

Lori grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho, with three older sisters. She attended Sandpoint High School, where she played softball and basketball. She graduated in 1979.

In 1981 she married Dale Fitch, and had a daughter, Emelie, in 1986.

In 1990, Lori and Emelie moved back to Sand-point, where Lori met up with former high school boyfriend, Randy Thomp-son. They were married in 1991, and had a son, Scott, in 1993.

In 1996, Lori moved with her husband and two children to Globe, Arizona, where they stayed until 2004 when she finally got to realize her dream of living near the ocean, by way of Temecula, California.

In an effort to be closer to her daughter and mother, in 2014, she and her husband moved back to Mesa, Arizona.

Lori was very active in the music ministry of her church, performing regularly for services. She loved backyard campfires and RZR rides.

She is survived by her husband, Randy; daughter, her Emelie (James) Worthington; her son, Scott Thompson; her mother, Ollie McAvoy Staloch; three sisters, MaryAnn (Paul) Arndt, Cathie (Roger) Klopfenstein, and Carol (Norman) Sommerfeld; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Allen McAvoy; and step-father, Charlie Staloch.

Services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Gold Canyon, Arizona, on May 11, at 2 p.m.
