Dixon is supposed to represent citizens' interests

| May 7, 2019 1:00 AM

In response to letter from Mike Boeck. I have the greatest respect for Mike as I worked on his campaign for state representative last year. But on the issue of state Rep. Sage Dixon’s obsessive efforts to thwart our citizens constitutional right to put initiatives on the ballot he has missed the point.

Mike is correct that campaign contributions come from a variety of interests with some seeking undue influence. But when PACs and corporations make up all but five individual donations to Mr Dixon’s campaign one comes to a logical conclusion about direction of his loyalties.

Mr Dixon says he doesn’t get donations from individual donors because he doesn’t ask for them. Did he ask for the PAC and corporate donations?

But the short answer is that Mr. Dixon is supposed to represent the interests of the people in Bonner and Boundary counties. It is not in the people’s interest to make it harder for them to put initiatives on the ballot.
