For the first time in three years, Sandpoint girls golf is heading to State.

Led by a 2-3 finish from Hattie Larson — whose 81 set up a one-hole playoff with Moscow’s Makena Rauch — and CeCe Deprez surging in the back nine with a 41 to finish with an 86 the Bulldogs routed second-place Lakeland by 41 strokes at The Links in Post Falls on Monday afternoon.

“We did great today,” Sandpoint coach Michael Deprez said, also citing Sandpoint’s third and fourth golfers who sealed the win. “Annaby [Kanning] hit the ball well with many four-putts and Camille [Neuder] four-putted the last green.”

The team title was Sandpoint’s first since the 2016 season, in which the Bulldogs went on to place fifth at state.

Over on the boys’ side, Joel Johnson led the Bulldogs with an 89. Unlike the girls’ district race, the three boys teams were separated by a mere 34 strokes. Boys team winner Lakeland placed three in the top four to take the district title.

State is next Monday and Tuesday at Twin Falls Golf Course.
