District dismissive toward citizens' wishes

| May 8, 2019 1:00 AM

On Tuesday, March 12, taxpayers in the West Bonner County School District voted down the school district’s tax (levy) plan, in a special election. Special, because the school tax issue was the only item on the ballot. That “special” election cost the taxpayers a lot of money. Now, just two months later, the school district is back with another tax (levy) ballot proposal.

If the school district was significantly improving math and science test scores, knowledge areas needed to succeed in the business world, I would vote for their tax. Unfortunately, my experience with the school district has me believing these are not high priorities, and in my experience, the district seems dismissive and indifferent toward citizen wishes.

I’ll be voting no on the new tax (levy) proposed by the WBCSD on Tuesday, May 21.
