Museum readies spring shopping event, exhibit

The Bonner County History Museum is excited to announce its upcoming spring shopping event and exhibit unveiling.

The museum has its winter coat, and adorned the gift shop in its crowning spring glory. Join the staff on Saturday, May 25, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the museum, 611 S. Ella in Lakeview Park, for some shopping, light refreshments, as well as the unveiling of the museum’s newest exhibit, “We Came by Rail.”

There wil be a number of new items in the gift shop including insect repellent fashion scarves, hysterical tea towels, new book titles, restocked bestselling items and much more or check out the table with savings up to 50 percent off.

The event also is a chance to learn more about the role the railroad played in shaping Bonner County.

Admission to the museum for this event is free for members. For non-members, admission is free with purchase in the gift shop.

Founded in 1972, the Bonner County History Museum has been collecting and preserving the Bonner County region’s significant stories for over 40 years.

The museum is located in view of Lake Pend Oreille in Lakeview Park. The park has many amenities including picnic areas, a playground, tennis courts, and the Native Plant Society arboretum. Adjacent to Lakeview Park is Memorial Field which has a boat launch and is home to the Festival at Sandpoint every August.

The Bonner County History Museum is a private, non-profit educational organization (I.R.S. 501 (c) 3).

The museum is a membership organization, open to all. It operates thanks to community support, membership fees, gifts, retail sales and donations, and grants from private foundations

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is $4, adults; $3, seniors; $1, 6-18 years; and free for members and children under 6.

On the first Saturday of each month, the museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with free admission for all.
