After romping through 4A District 1 girls tennis play, last Saturday’s districts tournament was more of the same for the Sandpoint girls tennis team, which won the team title behind four all-league performances.

“As expected, our senior-laden girls team won Districts with astounding ease,” Sandpoint tennis head coach Kent Anderson wrote in an email. “It is inspiring watching the level of dedication, discipline and athleticism that this team exhibits every match.”

Sandpoint’s best displays of athleticism arguably came from Jenny Slaveck and the tandem of Allura Livingston and Tessa Beeman. All three girls rolled throughout districts, combining to lose one game throughout the two-day event. Unsurprisingly, all three took home all-league honors, with Slaveck winning 4A IEL Girls Player of the Year.

“Jenny lost only one game in the tournament to set up an all-Sandpoint championship final between Jenny and Hadley Goodvin,” Anderson said. “Hadley fought her way to the finals with her consistent baseline game but it wasn’t quite enough against Jenny’s court presence.”

Although Slaveck beat Goodvin, both earned trips to state. Joining them will be Livingston and Beeman, who dominated girls doubles in league play and at districts.

“Allura and Tessa never lost a game,” Anderson said. “Their play as a doubles team hit the highest stride of the season as they continually placed volleys into the open court and never allowed their opponents a point. Their unforced errors were almost non existent and they played with beyond belief domination.”

The quartet of Bulldogs will play at the 4A State Tennis Tournament this Friday and Saturday, held at various locations throughout Boise. Slaveck and Goodvin will play their singles matches at Julia Davis Park on Friday, starting at 8 a.m. Livingston and Beeman will play at Timberline High School at 9:30 a.m.
