Margaret Ilene Mills

| May 21, 2019 1:00 AM

Margaret Ilene Mills, or affectionately called Granny, passed away on May 13, 2019, at 80 years old.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Hollie; son, Chico; grandchildren, Nathan, Charla, Sarah, Adeline, Katie and Richard; as well as, many great-grandchildren. She joins in death her son, Billy Mitchell; former husband, John Mitchell; brother, Harry Mills; sister, Jean Westergard; and parents, Ruby and William Mills.

Granny lived in Montana and Idaho all of her life and in her younger years was an avid horsewoman, fisherwoman, and loved living in the remote backcountry of Montana. She was independent, tough, and loving to all that knew her. She was a gregarious personality, making friends with strangers anywhere she traveled.

She loved all animals, especially her cats, and enjoyed going on road trip adventures exploring old mining towns and being a rock hound. She relished taking her grandchildren camping, swimming, and fishing on the Missouri River during summers in Montana and enjoyed teaching them how to ride horses.

Granny, you were larger than life at times sharing stories that seemed to get bigger and bigger each time. Sometimes a bit stubborn in your ways, an “ornery” granny, we loved you all the same and wish you rest and peace from this worldly plain.

A celebration of life ceremony will be determined at a later time in Montana, with a luncheon and remembrance day to spread her ashes in the mountains she always called home.
