Summer fun arrives early with plenty of options
SANDPOINT — Based on the lineup for this week, it feels like summer activity is building speed. Don’t worry, we’ll eventually get some summer weather, too!
Sandpoint Community Sing is back tonight at Downtown Yoga and there’s a Neighborhood Storytelling event this evening at Matchwood Brewing.
On Saturday, check out the special event at the Granary Arts District starting at noon, then swing over to the museum for a special unveiling of a cool, new exhibit. There’s a social dance at Community Hall that same evening and, on Sunday, Northwest BachFest presents ‘Great Scott!’ with Scott Joplin piano music at Pend d’Oreille Winery.
Starting today, the Panida rolls out two films — one in the main theater and one in the Little Theater — and on Tuesday, Music Conservatory of Sandpoint has a big student concert on the Panida stage.

Sandpoint Community Sing

Trivia Takeover

‘Be Natural’
Venue: Panida Little Theater, 304 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7 p.m.
Alice Guy-Blaché was a true pioneer who got into the movie business at the very beginning—in 1894, at the age of 21. But by 1919, Guy-Blaché’s career came to an abrupt end, and she and the 1,000 films that bore her name were largely forgotten.

‘Storm Boy’

Time: 7:30 p.m.
This summer’s must-see family film, Storm Boy is the tale of the unique bond between a 10-year-old boy, Mike Kingley, and his pelican, Mr. Percival, the bird he has raised as his own since rescuing it from the nest as a tiny chick.

Kathy Colton & The Reluctants

Granary Arts District Local Artists Showcase
Venue: The Granary District (between Evans Brothers Coffee and Matchwood Brewing), in Sandpoint.

Enjoy local music, dance, and theatre to benefit Music Bridges Borders Cultural Enrichment and Exchange Program.

‘Dance Into Summer’ Social Dance
Venue: Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7-10 p.m.
The fun begins with a waltz lesson taught by a professional instructor from 7-8 p.m., followed by general dancing, refreshments, door prizes, drawings, and lots of fun. Singles, couples, and all dancers are welcome.

New Exhibit Unveiling

Come check out the newest exhibit at the museum – ‘We Came By Rail’ – and learn more about the role the railroad played in shaping Bonner County. The museum has shed its winter coat and adorned the gift shop in its crowning spring glory, with many new items.
