Innovation Collective, UI launch local opportunity

| May 24, 2019 1:00 AM

Innovation Collective has now launched in Sandpoint. March and April fireside chats were held at Matchwood Brewing Company. These inspiring discussions with entrepreneurs and community members started the dialogue about creating our own jobs.

The Innovation Collective vision is a series of cities and towns that serve as hubs of innovation with economic niches that reflect the history, strengths, and passions of its people by helping individuals, governments and businesses through leadership courses, economic development, education reform, just plain good old-fashioned dialogue and creating our own jobs.

A step in creating local jobs is the launch of InspireID (Inspire Idaho) in the Sandpoint area.

InspireID is an Innovation Collective Sandpoint and University of Idaho program with corporation partnership.

InspireID provides the learning environment for Apple Swift, which is a powerful and intuitive language for macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS.software.

This program is designed for individuals who have no prior programming knowledge who aim to achieve basic proficiency in building apps with Swift. This is a “non-majors” course and is recommended for anyone who wants to acquire and enhance app development skills. The program requires an Apple MacBook but for those in need, a MacBook device will be made available on loan.

The program is focused toward those seeking to build a new set of skills enhancing their job opportunities while continue living in North Idaho. The commitment from the participants is 180 hours during the next 12 months. Regularly scheduled group sessions will be held to encourage and learning support.

A launch for InspireID was held May 20 at Bonner County East Library in Sandpoint.
