Memorial Day ceremonies set

SANDPOINT — A slate of events are on tap for Memorial Day weekend, beginning today.

On Saturday, crews will place flags on veterans’ graves, beginning at 9 a.m. at Pinecrest, followed by Lakeview at 1 p.m.

Those interested should bring along a screwdriver or similar tool to poke a hole in the sold to make placing the flags easier as well as a pair of gloves.

On Monday, Memorial Day:

Services will be held at 8 a.m. at Seneacquoteen Cemetery. Friends, family and especially veterans are invited to attend the annual service. Veterans are invited to take part in the ceremony and are asked to be at the cemetery by 7:15 a.m. The cemetery is located nine miles from Highway 95 on W. Dufort Road.

Lineup for Memorial Day services at Pinecrest Cemetery begin at 9 a.m. with the ceremony starting shortly afterward. At Lakeview, lineup for the tribute begins at 1 p.m. with the ceremony starting shortly afterward.

All community members are invited to attend either or both of the services to pay their respects to those who have died in service to their country.
