SANDPOINT — A structure fire reportedly claimed a residence in the Upper Pack River Valley on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 12:45 p.m. at 115 Elk St., which branches off of B Street. The single-family residence was being overrun by fire when Northside Fire District personnel arrived at the scene, according to radio traffic from firefighters.

It was not immediately clear if the homeowner was present when the fire took hold. The fire was reported by a third party.

A Northside firefighter injured an ankle, according to Chief Brad Mitton.

The home was not within a fire district, although Northside remained on the call at the request of the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.

“We tried to cool it down and keep it from spreading,” Mitton said.

Mitton said the cause of the fire remains under investigation with the assistance of the Idaho State Fire Marshal.
