LPOSD is offering free summer meals

The Lake Pend Oreille School District, in cooperation with the Idaho State Department of Education and USDA, is offering free meals to all children ages 1 through 18 in the district.

No registration, no fees, no income or personal information, are being requested.

Parents are encouraged, but not required to come enjoy lunch with their children. Adult meals are available to purchase for $3.85 USA prohibits adults from eating any portion of a child’s meal.

USDA regulations require all free meals to be consumed on-site, in the designated eating area. The summer meal program is a federally funded grant that encourages feeding nutritious meals to all children during the summer months when school is not in session.

Meals will be provided at the following times and sites:

- Farmin Elementary School cafeteria — 1627 Spruce St., June 17 through Aug. 23, 11:30-12:30 p.m. Open Monday through Friday; closed July 4-5.

- Sandpoint City Beach — 56 Bridge St., July 1 through Aug. 23, 11:30-12:30 p.m.; meals will be served at the grassy area next to playground. Open only on Tuesdays and Thursdays; closed July 4-5.

- Kootenai Elementary library — 301 Sprague St., Kootenai; June 25-Aug. 14., 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Open only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

- Sandpoint High School — 410 S. Division Ave.; June 17 through Aug. 23, 12-12:30 p.m.; meals be located in the hallway double-door entrance left of the main school entrance. Open Monday through Friday; closed July 4-5.
