Guinan will bring respect to Sandpoint City Council

| November 1, 2019 1:00 AM

The political environment in Sandpoint has never been so vicious. And it’s directed primarily at one person. Why? Because she’s a threat to the status quo apple cart.

First came a complaint to police that she lied on her candidacy form about her residency, requiring a visit with law enforcement. Then came a complaint that she committed voter fraud by voting in the wrong town, causing the police, and then the secretary of state, to get involved. The result being two big nothing-burgers, and a whole lot of distress, while wasting taxpayer resources.

Those who currently control, as well as some of the candidates currently running are terrified that they may lose seats on the Sandpoint City Council. It’s mostly a minority, one-world view dominated body in a diverse community filled with people of all political persuasions.

Jacque Guinan has shown backbone in the face of vicious attacks by as-of-yet-unknown forces. And what she will bring to the city council is a voice for all, including those who’ve been ignored by the current board and the mayor (who routinely fans the flames of division), as well as the grit and determination she’s shown as a candidate. I urge you to take the opportunity to bring much-needed change by voting for Jacque Guinan on Nov. 5.
