Shannon Williamson is thoughtful, knowledgeable

| November 1, 2019 1:00 AM

I have been following the endorsement letters for Sandpoint mayor and city council with interest.

After experiencing eight months of negotiations with the current Sandpoint mayor, Shelby Rognstad, I urge voters to elect Shannon Williamson to the position of Mayor.

Because of his personal politics and self-serving agenda, coupled with being one of the “good old boys,” Shelby is not the best choice for mayor of Sandpoint. Shelby talks a good talk, but his actions caused my husband and me to unnecessarily spend $18,000 out of pocket on something that should have only cost about $2,000. When confronted by a constituent recently as to his actions regarding our situation, he obfuscated the truth. Shelby’s politics appear to be a priority over the will and/or well-being of the city tax-paying residents.

My personal involvement with Shannon has shown her to be thoughtful, knowledgeable and intelligent. She is highly educated and has six years of previous experience as a councilperson working with city staff and residents. Shannon is familiar with the current issues before the council, and is ready to proficiently address these matters in an expeditious manner.

According to his bio, Ken Lawrence does not have any background or experience to successfully take on the duties and responsibilities of mayor.

I urge the citizens of Sandpoint to vote for and elect Shannon Williamson as mayor.
