Create hosts class on bark lampshades

Have you always wanted a birch bark lampshade for your home or to give as a gift.

You’re in luck as Olivia Giannasi teaches a class Saturday, Nov. 9, on just that where participants can make a birch bark lampshade in either a drum or a cone shape. The class will take held at Create, 900 W. Fourth, Newport. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $20.

Participants should bring a sack lunch, needle nose pliers, a drill with a bit size of 1/4-inch or 3/16th-inch.
