Food bank seeks holiday turkeys

| November 6, 2019 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — With Thanksgiving on the horizon, the Bonner Community Food Bank has set a goal of 800 turkeys to make sure everyone has enough to eat this Thanksgiving.

“As the weather changes and it starts to get colder outsid, the demand for services from the food bank increases,” said executive director Debbie Love. “Seasonal workers are coming off their summer jobs and heating bills are higher. Assisting families with a holiday meal in our community is important and we want to ensure that everyone that needs a turkey for their household will have one.”

In addition to turkeys, other items included in the holiday food basket are canned pumpkin, canned yams, canned corn/green beans, potatoes, gravy, Jello, canned cranberries, canned fruit, peanut butter, and fresh produce.

Non-food items that are in demand this time of year include socks, hats and gloves, toilet paper, paper towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and tampons/pads.

To register at the food bank and sign up for a turkey, please visit the Bonner Community Food Bank, 1707 Culvers Drive, Sandpoint
