SANDPOINT — With Veterans Day drawing near, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2453 is offering for sale custom-made chocolate bars.

“It’s one of our main fundraisers for our veteran welfare fund,” said Rich Faletto of VFW.

That fund helps veterans with groceries, snowplowing, firewood, gasoline, utilities and dental care, according to George Eskridge of VFW.

The bars, which were made by Sandpoint Chocolate Bear, sell for $3 apiece and can be found at Alpine Motors, Café Trinity First American Title Co., Route 66 Autobody and the UPS Store in Sandpoint.

The handmade bean-to-bar confections are made from organic cacao from the Dominican Republic. They are etched with the slogan “Freedom is Sweet.”

All of the funds raised during the promotion stay in the community to help local vets in need

“It stays in Bonner County,” Faletto said of the proceeds.
