Cornerstone adds full-spectrum infrared sauna

| November 8, 2019 12:00 AM

Cornerstone Physical Therapy now offers full-spectrum infrared sauna sessions to the list of services they provide.

The sauna is open not just to the clinic’s physical and occupational therapy clients but also to the community through several cash pay options, Cornerstone officials said.

The clinic recently invested in the two-person infrared sauna after doing considerable research into the various types of infrared saunas on the market before landing on the clearlight sanctuary sauna. The sanctuary sauna is medical grade and boasts low electromagnetic fields (EMFs) with additional light therapy (chromotherapy).

Cornerstone owner Amanda Thome said she felt it was important to provide a full-spectrum infrared sauna because each wavelength (near, far, and mid) penetrates the body differently and thus promotes different responses.

An added benefit of the infrared sauna versus traditional hot-air/steam saunas is the operating temperatures, clinic officials said in a press release. Unlike traditional saunas, which raise the air temperature in order to warm the body, infrared saunas heat the body directly resulting in deeper tissue penetration and an environment that is more enjoyable for users.
