POHD trustee questions hospital district activities

| November 12, 2019 12:00 AM

The Pend Oreille Hospital District trustees allegedly involved themselves in unlawful fundraising activities. The Bonner General Health Foundation, an entity of BGH, in 2018/2019 fundraised for ear, nose and throat equipment. All but one of the POHD trustees, sit on the BGH Board of Directors, and authorized a $56,029.61 payment to BGH for ENT equipment. The BGHF also paid BGH, from fundraising dollars, $56,029.61 as part of the $132,000 raised for the very same equipment.

How do overlapping payments to BGH happen when the POHD trustees, “public officials,” are managing the private BGH purchases and the public POHD reimbursements and receiving the private BGHF donations of the very same ENT equipment?

Answer: Conflicts of interest and incompatibilities of office predictably occur when overlapping public POHD board of trustee and private BGH Board of Directors cannot separate their loyalty of fiduciary duty, serving two masters … where the taxpayer is not primary. By no means is this perfidious arrangement limited to ENT equipment, recall … decades of unlawful and unconstitutional BGH funding by POHD amount to more than $16 million.

Deception of advertising and confusion of ownership of ENT equipment is what the Idaho Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division, is now tasked to investigate. For eyes to see and ears to hear … more to follow.
