Break away from comfort zone and focus on fitness

| November 13, 2019 12:00 AM

How many of you wake up with a cup of coffee, drive to work, deal with a boss who doesn’t appreciate what you do, run errands, go home, cook dinner, do a load of laundry, help the kids with their homework only to go to bed exhausted with the dread of doing it all over again tomorrow?

Have you ever wondered what your life could be like if you would step outside of your comfort zone?

Maybe this is simply learning a new skill, meeting someone new, getting a completely new hair cut and color or accepting a challenge without fully understanding how you could possibly predict the outcome. Maybe it’s time to get extremely uncomfortable because this is where the real growth happens, the real fulfillment resides and where the real solutions are.

Many of you will find that leaving your comfort zone is often painful.

Once you realize that this is an important step towards accomplishing anything significant, moving beyond this step will be an easier process.

Accept the fact that there may be pain. Much like giving birth, “ladies”, you know what I’m talking about. You are giving birth to a new and improved you.

Move through the fear, anxiety and don’t over-think it. I think it is normal for a lot of us to seek the answers and not move forward until we see the path clearly.

Several years ago, a friend of mine once mentioned the word faith to me. She would always say: You need to have more faith. I would roll my eyes, take a deep sigh and wait ... wait for faith. Guess what: I had the strength and faith inside of me all along, I simply needed to quiet the external noise and listen to my heart.

Make a commitment to YOU and jump in with both feet. Do something great for you and step out of your own way. Don’t over-think it. Don’t talk yourself out of it. Just do it. (My favorite slogan courtesy of Nike — Just do it.)

Let me know what you have done in the past week to step out of your comfort zone and I will do the same.
