Entertainment scene offers something for everyone

It’s a week of great fun and great causes ahead, so grab your phone, mark your calendar because there are any number of must-go events on tap.

First, there’s CASA’s Purse Party tonight. where you can grab a new designer handbag and help fund the Court Appointed Special Advocate program. And, dude, the “Hot and Hairy” Calendar release party on Friday promises plenty of fun, laughter and calendar models that deliver a real North Idaho feel. Friday also features Comedy for a Cause at the Panida, which benefits the historic theater and the Bonner Community Food Bank.

And if all of THAT isn’t enough, there’s Christmas fairs, a Festival at Sandpoint Chamber Series concert with Canna Corda Trio, special showings of “Downton Abbey” with tea included and more. Read on and have a blast.

CASA Purse Party

BGH Craft Fair

Venue: Bonner General Health, 520 N. Third Ave.

Ron Kieper Jazz Trio

Venue: Idaho Pour Authority, 203 Cedar St.

‘Hot & Hairy’ Calendar Release Party

Venue: Laughing Dog Brewing, 805 Schweitzer Plaza Drive

Time: 5-8 p.m.

Sandpoint FUN Raising has gathered some of Sandpoint’s finest men to help raise money for Community Cancer Services. This event is a must-go as the full calendar will be released and have all of the calendar’s amazing hot and hairy models there to sign your purchase.

Mike Wagoner Trio

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St.

Time: 5-8 p.m.

The Mike Wagoner Trio always brings a lively, talented, brilliant performance to the winery. This trio packs the house and will be performing your favorite folk, Americana, and rock music.

Devon Wade Duo

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St.

Time: 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Devon Wade is back at the Beer Hall with his father Mac on the drums. Devon is a Sandpoint-based country music artist with a strong love for what country music has always been, songs about real life.

Sugar Hill Gang & The Furious 5’s Grandmaster Mele Mel

Venue: The Hive, 207 N. First Ave.

Time: Doors open 7 p.m., show begins 9 p.m.

Y’all ready for this? When you mention legends in the music industry, you have to mention “The Sugarhill Gang”, hip hop’s first superstars and pioneers. The Sugarhill Gang made history in 1979 with their rap single “Rappers Delight” — the first commercial rap record, which went on to sell over 15 million records. The Sugarhill Gang was the first rap group to tour throughout the world and to appear on national TV shows.

Comedy for a Cause

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

The ‘fun’ is being put into fundraising at the Panida when national touring comedian Richie Minervini performs to benefit the Bonner Community Food Bank hosted by the Panida Theater.

Headlining is Richie Minervini, a national touring comedian and former owner of The East Side Comedy Club, where celebrities, Rosie O’Donnell, Jay Leno, Eddie Murphy, Kevin James, and Ray Romano started their stand-up careers. Opening for Richie is Sam Cornett, no stranger to the stage. He has been an entertainer over the past 30 years. After performing and recording music overseas, Cornett now brings his love of entertaining and his spin on any song to his hometown of Sandpoint.

Nights of Neon

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.-midnight

Sandpoint’s rowdy five piece brings all the fun with funk, hints of hip hop, reggae, and jazz. Whether it’s playing covers or their original music, you’ll be compelled to hit the dance floor by the funky rhythms and soulful vocals.

SATURDAY, NOV. 16

Canna Corda Trio

Venue: Heartwood Center, 615 Oak St.

time: 6:30 p.m.

The Canna Corda Trio — Mika Hood, Mike Keepe and David Brewster — will play classical selections on cello, saxophone and piano. The concert is part of the Festival at Sandpoint Chamber Series.

Tickets available in advance at Eve’s Leaves and at then door the night of the concert. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth (12 and under) and seniors.

Mudslide Charley

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave.

Time: 9 p.m.-midnight

This Missoula powerhouse group provides an energetic music experience that will make you want to dance all night.

‘Downton Abbey’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave.

Time: 12 p.m.

Excitement is high as King George V and Queen Mary will visit the Crawley estate as part of their royal tour through the country. So, come dressed for tea and join the historic Panida Theater, built in 1927, for a special showing of Downton Abbey.

Tonedevil Brothers

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St.

Back by popular request, the brothers who formed Tonedevil Guitars will feature their own brand of harp guitar in their acoustic sets of western swing and bluegrass tunes at the winery.

Ponderay Paradox

Jam Shack
