I am a veteran, a member of an extended military family. I am extremely dismayed by Republicans’ continued support of the president.

He is commander in chief of the Armed Forces, yet he undermines critical security agencies responsible for the security of our country. He supports the head of a hostile country, Russia. He believes the Russian head of state over our security agencies. He abandoned an ally, the Kurds. He delayed Ukraine critical military support in the Russian takeover. He endangers the safety and welfare of our country.

On Veterans Day, I think of my father, brother, uncle, son, brother-in-law, father-in-law and others who have served during times of war. I am reminded of the Vietnam war, during which I served in the Air Force as did my brother and my uncle. I am reminded of the support to North Vietnam by Russia. Thousands were killed by Russian arms. Hundreds of Air Force crew were shot down by Russian radar guided anti-aircraft weapons. Russia is a sworn enemy and helped kill Americans. Why do Republicans support a president who acts in servile deference to the Russian leader? Isn’t his behavior traitorous? You say you are a patriot. Do the right thing and denounce this man. His is not worthy of being called the commander in chief. I ask all true patriots and Republicans to stand up and speak out against his actions which undermine the credibility, the safety, and the welfare of our country.
