Edward Lomer Deno, 72

Edward Lomer Deno, 72, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, in Sandpoint, Idaho. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Edward, better known by all as “Deno” or “Eddie” was born on April 2, 1947 in Lawndale, California, to Edward and Vera Deno. He grew up in southern California and graduated from Leuzinger High School in 1965. He continued his education at El Camino Junior College, winning several golf championships along the way. One of his favorite quotes: “Happiness is just one putt away.”

When Deno was 29 years old he started a job with G.I. Trucking, and for the next 25 years worked for them as a Class A commercial delivery driver. After leaving G.I. Trucking he drove a delivery truck for Home Depot for ten years and then for Lowes for ten years before fully retiring in 2015.

In 1988, while working for G.I. Trucking, Deno met a co-worker named Shari Taylor. Four months after they met, they went on their first date together and so began a 28-year relationship before their marriage on May 17, 2017. Over those years they raised two children together, her son, Joseph Duran, and their daughter, Jessica Deno.

At a young age, Deno developed a gift and passion for the game of golf. It remained a constant in his life, both as a player and a coach, the fairway provided a great place to make and maintain friendships. Deno loved watching and being a part of his children’s athletic careers. Helping out wherever he was needed, whether as a fan, ref, coach, or scorekeeper, he never missed a game. As a proud father and a comedian at heart, Deno accumulated a repertoire of “dad jokes.” He also enjoyed writing and singing songs.

In March 2018, Deno and Shari moved to Sandpoint and built a beautiful house in the woods surrounded with wildlife. He quickly became friends with his new furry neighbors while feeding them and giving them all names. He enjoyed camping and hiking with his family, which included his dogs, Lulu Belle, and his sidekick and best friend, Bailey. He joined the Elks Lodge in Sandpoint and volunteered many hours at the Elk’s golf course.

Deno is survived by his wife, Shari Deno of Sandpoint; sons Benjamin Deno and Joseph Duran; daughter Jessica Deno of Sandpoint; and sister Dolly (Richard) Ickler of Long Beach, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward Deno; and two brothers, George and Gerald “Jerry” Martin.
