Dogs are angels sent to deliver love, comfort

| November 19, 2019 12:00 AM

I met a dog the other day; she belonged to some friends of mine. Bella was one of two dogs rescued from the Panhandle Animal Shelter. Rusty was deaf and Bella wanted nothing more than love. My friend told me that Bella had been terribly abused.

When I entered from friends’ house, both dogs bounded straight for me. A dog knows if you love them. They took great delight in my patting and words of praise … “Good dog,” “my, aren’t you pretty,” and so forth.

Then, after our visit as I stood to leave, there lay Bella at my feet on her back, looking for a belly rub. After giving her her heart’s desire, she surprised me by sitting on her haunches in the position of begging for a treat. To her, love was the very best treat in the world. Well, I got a tear in my eyes and fell to my knees to hug this precious soul.

I wonder how anyone could hurt an innocent animal like her. However, Bella does now2 have a loving home and thank God there are people like my friend who give their hearts to these beautiful animals. I truly believe that each dog is an angel sent by God to love and comfort us.
