Sturgis maintains lead in LPOIC derby

| November 24, 2019 6:25 PM

SANDPOINT — Becky Sturgis continued her lead atop the 2019 Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club’s adult Mackinaw division.

However, it was another slow day on the lake with just a few fish brought the scales, board member Dave Gillespie said in an email announcing Sunday’s results.

“We had big wind on the lake early this morning, and after the winds died back around 11 a.m.,” Gillespie said. “The bright sunshine cooled the bite. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day to catch the big one.”

Sturgis brought in a 17.58-pound Mackinaw that measured 37 inches to claim the top spot Saturday. Continuing to hold second place is Tom Joyner, who caught a 2.72 pound, 20-inch fish Saturday. Entering the leaderboard in third place is Mike Mitale, who caught a 19 3/4-inch, 2.46-pound Mackinaw on Sunday. In fourth is Bert Dennett with a 1.76-pound, 17-inch Mackinaw; followed by Paul Millar, who caught a 1.64-pound, 18-inch Mackinaw to claim the fifth spot on the leaderboard. In sixth place is Josh with a 1.32-pound, 16 1/2-inch Mackinaw.

In the Youth B division, Lauren Porter continues to hold the lead in the category an 18.18-pound, 32-inch rainbow. In second place is Madison Shaw Clary, who caught a 13.9-pound, 28 3/4-inch rainbow. Claiming third spot on the list is Savannha Landingham, who caught a 6.30-pound, 23-inch rainbow on Sunday.
