Nov. 26, 1969 – LEGS CONTEST

SHS Booster club sponsored a “Prettiest Legs” contest. Twenty-seven girls and one boy entered.

RIFFE CAUGHT 29 LB. KAMLOOPS

Norman T. Riffe landed one of the largest Kamloops turned in this month for competition in the Hope Lounge & Cafe fishing derby, hooking a 29 lb. 2 oz. tackle-buster off Sheepherder’s point.

PINK AND BLUE SHOWER

The recreation hall at the Island View Resort was the setting Nov. 8 for a pink and blue shower honoring Mrs. Mark Wendle. Hostesses were Mrs. Hoyt Schuyler, Mrs. Lynn Pollins and Mrs. Leslie Anderson. Four-week old Tammie Ann was with her mother and was shown off to all present.

CARLA BERGER PLANS WEDDING

Mr. and Mrs. Jackson T. Berger Jr., 505 S. Ella, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Carla, to John Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Phillips, Rt. 1, Sagle.

Pvt. John H. Phillips is now training in Fort Lewis, Wash. Both are graduates of Sandpoint Senior High. A Christmas wedding is planned.

SCHWEITZER CAME A LONG WAY

Eight years ago Schweitzer Basin was only a gleam in the eyes of a few hard-core skiers. Embarking on its 7th season, Schweitzer has the largest uphill lift capacity of any ski area in Idaho, Montana or the Pacific Northwest!

Nov. 5, 1919 – MUST FURNISH PHONE

At Monday’s city council meeting, a letter was read from the telephone company relative to the long discussed question of whether the police chief is entitled to a free telephone at his home. The clerk was directed to notify Mr. Fisher the council insists upon the phone being installed.

HIGH SCHOOL NOTES

The freshies are giving a dance Friday at the K.P. hall. Everyone in high school is cordially invited; boys especially, providing they bring $1.

Donald Corwin, who was going to “South America,” has returned after a long absence of one week. He says he is glad to be back, and that Sandpoint hasn’t changed much in his absence.

MRS. DREISBACH GIVES DANCING PARTY

Mrs. E.W. Dreisbach entertained 12 young couples at her home Thursday, in honor of Miss Lillian Hallgren. Orchestral music was provided.

TO FILM SCENES IN SANDPOINT

The first “shooting” of film scenes in this locality will take place this season. Snow scenes for two James Oliver Curwood productions will be made, and players from the east will be sent here as soon as the snow falls in sufficient amounts.
