Just because the majority believes it, doesn't mean it's true

If thousands of scientists claim that something is true, it must therefore be true, right? If multiple government agencies announce that global warming is cause for alarm, then it must be cause for alarm, right? If there is a “consensus” among climate “experts” that global warming is caused by man’s use of fossil fuels, then it must be true, right?

Wrong.

Leo Tolstoy once said, “Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it.” Those are words of wisdom. It is easy for the majority to be wrong about something, even if the majority consists of so-called “educated” people. History is replete with examples, too many to list here.

Likewise, Carl Sagan once said, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence,” and “My view is that if there is no evidence for it, then forget about it.” So where is the extraordinary evidence that human-caused global warming is a “crisis”? We should never just take someone’s word for something as serious as a “crisis.” Neither should we be fooled by their lies and obfuscation tactics.

Since the future has not arrived yet, nobody can tell with any certainty what is going to happen, especially ten years or more from now. The fanatics have not yet proven that their theories are anything more than just theories, and our daily weather forecasts prove that science does not fare well when making predictions. Maybe we should take Sagan’s advice and, since there is no evidence for it, just forget about it.
