| November 27, 2019 12:00 AM

The West Bonner Libraries are gearing up for the holidays with fun and functional workshops for adults, a potluck and special holiday events for kids.

First up is Read It & Eat! on Monday, Dec. 2 at noon. The theme for December’s potluck is “finger foods.” Bring your favorite appetizer and get some new ideas for holiday get-togethers.

Randy Haa will return to both libraries to teach participants to make an original fused glass ornament. This Live & Learn class will be held at the Priest River branch on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. and at the Blanchard branch on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a.m. There is a $7 materials fee and registration is required. The Live & Learn series offers a variety presentations, workshops and activities for adults and young adults ages 14 and up.

On Saturday, Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. the Blanchard Library will host a Live & Learn workshop on glass painting. Paint a functional glass piece to cure and use at home or give as a gift. There is no charge for this class and all materials are provided. Please register ahead.

Artist Lynn Walters will teach a Live & Learn class on carved block printing. Lynn will take participants through the process of creating their own carved block stamp design that can be used for gift tags or cards. A $5 material fee applies and registration is necessary. This class will be held at the Priest River Library on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m.

Kids ages 8 and up can look forward to Full STEAM Saturday on Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. Stephanie Davis will return for a class on Scratch coding. Scratch allows children to learn coding concepts and create interactive projects without needing to learn a text-based programming language. Registration is required.

On Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m., kids ages 8 and up are invited to join Abby Jo and Johanna VanHoutan, authors of “Cozy Christmas Kitchen: A Hygge-Inspired Christmas” for a Kids’ Cozy Christmas get-together. Participants will enjoy cookie decorating and craft ideas to make their own homes extra cozy for the holidays. Please call to reserve a seat.

Join Miss Josie and crew for the sixth annual reading of “The Polar Express”, the inspiring adventure based on the beloved children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. This year, come and get comfy. Put on your PJs and bring your favorite stuffed animal. There will be snacks and lots of holiday fun. Board the train at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13. Pick up a ticket at either library or reserve a seat by calling the library.
