With turkey day upon us, the Daily Bee decided to go out and ask athletes from Sandpoint and Clark Fork competing in winter sports one question — what’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish?

Here are their responses that vary in length but not in options.

Darren Bailey, junior, Sandpoint boys basketball

“Probably stuffing ... my grandma makes the best stuffing. And another thing about my family is we don’t like turkey because it just doesn’t taste, I don’t think, that good and so we usually just eat ham instead.”

Kobe Banks, senior, Sandpoint boys basketball

“I guess just the turkey in general. I love meat I guess.”

Ryan Roos, senior, Sandpoint boys basketball

“Definitely mashed potatoes and gravy.”

Josh Constantin, senior, Clark Fork boys basketball

“Pistachio creme pie, it’s really good. The only thing I don’t know like is stuffing. It’s just soggy bread.”

Cameron Garcia, senior, Clark Fork boys basketball

“My grandma makes spinach dip, I munch on that a lot. I basically eat everything, everything is pretty good. I don’t know why Josh doesn’t like stuffing, I have to work on that with him.”

Maddie Morgan, senior, Sandpoint girls basketball

“My mom makes seven layer cookies. Its like a combination of coconut, chocolate chips and a bunch of stuff. It’s just seven layers of goodness so I’m looking forward to that. I eat like two batches of it and my mom always has to make a ton so I’m excited for that.”

Dawson Driggs, senior, Sandpoint girls basketball

“Definitely the mashed potatoes I would say because I have always loved mashed potatoes and you can mix it in with the turkey.”

Hattie Larson, junior, Sandpoint girls basketball

“I just love mashed potatoes, I’d say mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.”

Ellie Kiebert, senior, Clark Fork girls basketball

“Mashed potatoes or mashed sweet potatoes with like gravy but you also got to put like turkey on top so you get a little bit of everything.”

Emily Myers, freshman, Clark Fork girls basketball

“Probably turkey.”

Jake Ryan, senior, Sandpoint wrestling

“The rolls are pretty good. The turkey is pretty good too.”

Jake Suhr, senior, Sandpoint wrestling

“I got to go with those mashed potatoes.”

Isaiah Caralis, senior, Sandpoint wrestling

“Either tater tot casserole or mashed potatoes. Tater tot casserole is just so good.”
