Library offerings help warm up winter's chill

Has this weather got you thinking about some comforting kitchen-time?

How about a night in with an exciting new dinner recipe and a movie? With over 400 cookbooks to choose from, you can find exactly what you’re craving at The Library. While you’re there, browse the huge selection of DVDs for a classic favorite or a new release. Redbox is nice, but free movies are so much better, and you won’t sacrifice selection just because it’s a good deal. Plus, if you’re a little bit old school like me, you’ll appreciate the fact that The Library is one of the last places where you can read the DVD jacket when choosing a movie.

For a truly relaxing night in, order take out and log on to ebonnerlibrary.org to stream movies for free with your library card number and Hoopla. It’s like Netflix … but it’s free.

If getting out of the house sounds more relaxing, here are a few opportunities to enjoy some inspiration at the East Bonner County Library District this week. All events take place at the Sandpoint branch, 1407 Cedar St., unless otherwise indicated.

- Wednesday, Dec. 4 — Clark Fork 3D Printing Community, 4-5:30 p.m. at the Clark Fork branch library. Drop in to collaborate with others and learn more from staff about 3D printing and design. - Now through Sunday, Dec. 1 — Clark Fork Autumn Reading Program — for all ages. Read between Sept. 1 and Dec. 1 and record the name of each book, full magazine, or book on tape with the author’s name. For each completed item, earn a library bidding dollar for use in the Holiday Silent Auction held on Dec. 6 and 7. Information: 208-266-1321.

- Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7 — Clark Fork Holiday Silent Auction, at the Clark Fork branch library. Put those reading dollars from the Clark Fork Library Autumn Reading Program to use! Books for all ages, movies, music, and more! Great gift ideas for you or a loved one. *List all books, complete magazines, or audio books read between September 1st and December 1st. - Saturday, Dec. 7 — Sandpoint Friends of the Library Book Sale, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Support your book habit while you support your library.

- Winter Reading Challenge — Register at ebonnerlibrary.beanstack.org for the first of three winter reading challenges. Our first one is a Holiday Challenge, from Nov. 4 through Dec. 13. Read and complete holiday-related activities to earn books and drawing entries. Drawing prizes include robots, knitting looms, and legos.
