Sandpoint News-Bulletin Oct. 1, 1969 – NEW HOSPITAL JOBS

Mrs. Phoebe Senft, Bonner General Hospital director of nurses for five years, was promoted to administrative assistant to J. F. Breinich, hospital administrator, with the general responsibility of supervising all hospital services. Mrs. Elsa Wormington was named director of nursing.

The increased work load brought on by Medicare was a major factor in realigning the supervisory personnel. The patient load has now increased to the point where Bonner General is handling an average of 32 patients per day.

BIXELS OBSERVE 50TH ANNIVERSARY

For their 50th wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bixel – Joe and Irene – were honored by relatives and friends who congratulated them in their Clark Fork home. Hostesses for their aunt and uncle were Myrtle (Mrs. Orville Shields), Lustella (Mrs. Carl Shields) and Helen (Mrs. Harold Shields). Beverly Shields could not be there but sent a beautiful cake.

Present was the 1919 bridesmaid, Mrs. Mary (Bixel) Lowther. The best man, James Monroe of Spokane, Irene’s brother, was unable to attend.

Joe Bixel, ever attentive to the needs of Irene, who is incapacitated and blinded by arthritis, stated that for 50 years, he produced a living from 70 acres of land, on which a snug home and other buildings, fruit trees, a garden and clover fields are products of an industrious farm life.
