The American College of Emergency Physicians has recognized Bonner General Health’s high performance during 2019.

The American College of Emergency Physicians recently includes the hospital’s Emergency Department on the E-QUAL Honor Roll for 2019. E-QUAL network seeks to reduce avoidable testing for low risk patients, in addition “to facilitating quality improvement activities by physicians.”

Among the activities noted to achieve the award are:

- Reduce the use of high-cost imaging for low back pain

- Reduce head CT scan after minor head injury

- Reduce chest CT for pulmonary embolus

- Reduce abdominal CT for renal colic

- Head CT for syncope

What that means for Bonner General Health’s ER patients is a high quality of care without unneeded tests.

“Avoiding unnecessary tests like CT scans saves our patients time and money while maintaining the highest quality of care at BGH Emergency Department,” said Dr. Vincent Huntsberger, M.D., BGH Emergency Department medical director.
