Logan Reese Temple, 21

Logan Reese Temple, 21, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Providence Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane after nearly three years of bravely battling a rare and aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. A celebration of Logan’s life will be held at a later date.

Born on May 29, 1998, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Brad and Stacy (Wasserman) Temple, Logan grew up and attended schools in Sandpoint, graduating from Sandpoint High School with the class of 2017. Logan played alto saxophone in the school and symphonic bands since sixth grade, dabbled with piano, ukulele and violin. Logan was a four-year varsity letterman on the tennis team and a captain both his junior and senior years. Having competed at the state level his junior year, he looked forward to returning his senior year and going deep in the tournament having been playing the best tennis of his life. Unfortunately, he became ill and was diagnosed before having that chance.

Logan was very social, made friends easily and was very caring of all people in his life. Logan had a wry, infectious smile, always getting people to laugh. His sense of humor was remarkable. Logan also had an incredible work ethic. Living and working on our tree farm from a young age, he was always ready to work and help out. Never receiving an allowance, he always had to work for his spending money (which was eventually poured into cars.). In high school, he worked four years at 41 South as a busboy and an expo. After getting his initial diagnosis in May 2017, he was so disappointed about missing his opportunity to become a waiter, having worked up to it for so many years.

Logan was an avid big mountain skier; he enjoyed golf, lacrosse, wake surfing, Frisbee golf, hunting, fishing, music and he LOVED to dance. Logan was passionate about rally cars and his latest pursuit was to catch that illusive big one on his fly rod.

After Logan’s relapse and his health began to fail, Logan asked to drive his sporty Golf R, his “Sick Whip” one more time, of which his dad Brad let him even though Logan had some physical issues that had manifested. When reaching home, Logan was filled with emotion and gratitude that he was able to drive his car one last time. This is one of many treasured memories.

Logan was looking forward to attending the University of Utah this fall but the cancer returned on the day he was to pack up his car to leave for school. As always, he dedicated himself to beat the beast once again, but it just was not possible this time. Logan was well loved by all the staff, doctors and nurses at Sacred Heart. When he felt well enough, as one of the oldest patients there, he did what he could to brighten the younger kid’s days. Many people have been deeply impacted by his loss.

Logan loved his family more than anything, always a kind, caring and affectionate son and brother. One of his many but truly greatest traits was his humor, always making us laugh while wearing his notoriously wry smile. He was known for being empathetic, polite and respectful beyond his years. Known as a lover of piglets and his dogs, Logan always enjoyed falling asleep in front of a warm fire, vying for position with his Cairn terrier to be closest to the heat.

Logan is survived by his parents, Brad and Stacy Temple of Sandpoint; his brother and best buddy, Spencer Temple of Sandpoint; grandparents, Sharon B. Temple “Gammy” of Sandpoint, Marjorie Mallory “Gramarj” of Los Angeles, Brigitte Wasserman “Oma” of Carmel, and Don and Janet Temple of Carson City. He is also loved and survived by his many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as by many long-time friends and adopted grandparents.

Logan was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Mel Wasserman “Pow-Pow” and “Grandpa Danny” Malloy.
