Scary good fun on tap for week's entertainment

| October 3, 2019 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Looks like we turned the corner on two wheels as far as the whole weather transition thing goes! After a wintery weekend, we’ve still got some chills ahead, especially starting tonight with the opening of Scarywood at Silverwood Theme Park.

On Friday, POAC hosts another First Fridays Art Reception, as do our pals at the Pend d’Oreille Winery. Also Friday evening, KRFY and Bonner County Human Rights Task Force team up to bring the Bonner County community the film ‘RGB’ — Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Hero, Icon, Dissenter at the Panida, while the fine folks at the Circle Moon Theater just west of Newport, Wash., open their three-weekend run for the comedy-drama ‘Mobile Home Sweet Home.’

Saturday rolls in with the Friends of the Library used book sale, the opening of the Hickey Farms pumpkin patch and Harvest Festival fun and a concert by the powerful female trio, Josephine the Volcano at the Pend Oreille Playhouse in Newport. Our fabulous Sandpoint Farmers Market is still at it, with bountiful harvests and live music both Saturday and this coming Wednesday.

Lastly, if it’s live music you crave, you’ll be well satisfied this week, with every venue in town offering styles that range from the folksy to the funky. For the record, this is my penultimate A&E calendar after several wonderful years at the helm. I’ll sure miss y’all, but more music making is calling my name.

Bundle up, be well, have fun.
