Talk explores arts, economy

| October 8, 2019 1:00 AM

Do you want to know more about arts, the economy and how they relate? Come take part in a conversation on the topic Wednesday with Stuart Weiser, deputy director of Idaho Commission on the Arts.

The program takes place from 6-8 p.m. at Ivano’s Ristorante, 102 S. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

This “easy to understand” presentation merges national and local data to take a unique, fun, and interesting look at the economic impact of the nonprofit arts in the United States. Starting with data collected on a national scale, the presentation folds in information about federal government spending, the ratio between the full federal budget and its support of arts ventures, the return on investment for arts support, and what the local arts economic impact is and how to compute it. The session runs approximately 45 minutes with time for questions.

The Conversation is a free monthly event with the intent to support all creatives and their tenacity it takes to make and market art in the visual, literary, and performing fields.

The Conversation is graciously sponsored by the nonprofit Creations for Sandpoint on the Cedar St. Bridge

Upcoming speakers include Nov. 13, Linda Heiss, city of Sandpoint Performance Administrator: “City of Sandpoint Long Range Plan for Art and Culture”; and Dec. 11: author Jackie Henrion, “How Art Disrupts” plus talk about her book “Uprooted.”
