When we think that limits limit us

I recently read a story of a man writing a memorial for a long time business partner, friend and mentor. This man who’s being remembered, had lost both hands in a mining accident in the late 1800s. He went through life using only the stubs of his arms. Imagine the limits if you can. Yet he’d made such a significant impact on the one remembering that he wrote that “even a person with no hands can touch anothers life.”

In our fast-paced, performance- and results-driven world it’s easy to think, “If only I/we had … then we could make a real impact in the lives of others.” Bah!

We have a Heavenly Father who excels in taking the penniless, the simple, the small, the young or old, the “uneducated”, the wounded, damaged and broken to be His image in our world. Sometimes it is in monumental ways but most often it’s in the small and seemingly insignificant moments.

When we think limits limit us, think again.

Trust in the Lord with all our heart, and lean not on our own understanding; in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
