Oct. 15, 1969 — ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT

The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Miss Carol Rosalee Cooper to Philip H. Robinson has been announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Cooper of Rexburg, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Robinson, Sr. of Sagle are parents of the future bridegroom. Miss Cooper is a graduate of the School of Beauty Culture at Rexburg. Mr. Robinson, a graduate of Sandpoint High School and the University of Idaho in business administration, will receive his degree in law from the U of I next June.

A Dec. 20 wedding is planned in Rexburg.

NEW FARMIN CLASS PAPER

Donna Wakely’s New Farmin sixth grade class has begun a mimeographed class paper. Mrs. Wakely got help in launching the publication from the journalism team at Sandpoint High School, with special instructional periods held last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

SHERIFF LOOKING FOR HUNTING SPOT

Sheriff Robert Wilcox is anxious to get an elk this season. He shot one seven years ago, but has been on the hard luck list since. This week he asked Dennis Hamann, whom he regards as a pretty good hunter, “Where can I get an elk?” Hamann looked around, stroked his neck and said: “Right about here is a good place.”

Wilcox is still looking for the proper hunting site.

Oct. 15, 1919 — A THRILLING RESCUE

During today’s noon intermission someone tried to pick the lock of the council room at the city hall occupied by the Central school’s sixth grade. The would-be burglar used a pine stick which broke off in the keyhole with the result that Fire Chief Wilcox had to put a ladder up to the building on the alley side, climb in the window and take the door off its hinges before school could resume.

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS DRUB SPOKANE “U”

Outweighed by 20 pounds to the man, inches shorter and by all appearances going up against a bad proposition, the local high school football squad made good the old saying that “the bigger they are the harder they fall,” when they rammed into the Spokane university team Saturday. From the word go to the last echo of the final whistle the game was all Sandpoint. The local lads played to win every minute, not for a second relaxing their grip.

LOCAL BRIEFS

Born Saturday, Oct. 11, to Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Nelson, an 8½-pound boy.

Physical culture classes have been organized for the high school girls. They are compulsory for freshmen, but older girls may choose whether to attend the classes or play basketball. Miss Helga Anderson is teaching the gymnasium classes.
