1. I have been a resident of Ponderay all my life going on 62 years. I have been attending city of Ponderay meetings on a regular basis. I also served as a council member years ago. I know the city of Ponderay has a lot of room for growth and is in the process of evaluating many different projects. I would love to be a part of a well-organized city council and help accomplish their goals.
2. I am a lifelong resident of Ponderay (61 years) and a firefighter for 35-plus years. Currently I am a fire chief with 19 years of experience. I have many yeard experience working with governmental rules and regulations, general public, administrative duties, incident command and emergency situations demanding patience, critical thinking and compassion. I will be able to assist the city in writing grants.
3. Water/fire flows — To be able to help promote future development in Ponderay.
Sewer — To be able to promote future development for more tax revenue for the city.
Affordable housing — To be able to help people get started that are on a low/fixed income.
With residential and business growth, proper city street maintenance will also need to be addressed.
4. I look forward to working with the city council and mayor on funding for these issues via grants, etc. I promise to be available to the public; to listen and act on what I hear. Workshops and focus groups are beneficial to garnering and sharing information as we work to stay on-pace with growth and sustainability.
5. Yes, the initiative is on the upcoming ballot for voters to determine. The projects to be supported by 1-percent would be tough if not impossible to accomplish without this initiative. I see many areas the city needs funding through the normal budgeting process. I support the initiative as long as we have the support backed by voters, and that a concise plan is firmly in place with specifics regarding the budgets and future maintenance.
6. I am not against the plan, as long as it has been thoroughly thought out and we have reached out to our citizens to obtain their input and support. And the infrastructure is put in place, prior to construction, and that it doesn’t put a burden on Ponderay taxpayers. I am as interested as anyone else to see it become a reality.
7. I want to be able to see the city accomplish its goals that it has set as priorities. It is my hope to promote new development which would create and/or maintain jobs and to bring in new events and people from other cities, counties and states. It would be an honor to serve the residents of my hometown.
8. To be able to put in whatever time is necessary to make sure that we listen to our taxpayers and neighbors on what their needs are and whatever they think the direction the city needs to go. It is important for city electives to realize that they are the voice of the citizens in their respective boundaries. It is in our best interest to hear what they have to say and act accordingly.
9. I look forward to having a good working relationship with all of the businesses in the city of Ponderay, taxpayers, residents, city employees and all other elected officials. I also look forward to working with the police department. As a former member of city council, I was instrumental in the formation of the original police department. We are fortunate to have a police department and I am happy that I was part of that process.
10. I have already been approached about the 1-percent local option tax, Field of Dreams and the railroad underpass.
To make sure that whatever concerns and thoughts you have please reach out to me so that we can get together and come up a resolution to fix the issue you have.
11. I will always work to uphold Idaho statutes, working within the laws set forth for the state and those of the city. Each city has ordinances policies and procedures; parameters it must work within. I will always do the research necessary when making decisions as a member of city council. If you have any questions or concerns, or something you would like to see from me, please make sure to get in touch with me.
12, If you are already in office and seeking reelection, how much time have you spent doing things for the city? As a former member of city council, I can say that I personally spent the time that was necessary to perform my duties.
