BONNERS FERRY — After wrapping up an undefeated season in the North Star League on Oct. 8, Clark Fork volleyball returned to the court Tuesday night to face Bonners Ferry.

The Lady Cats (9-2, 8-0) came into the match with a lot of confidence after they beat the 3A team in five sets on Sept. 5.

Unfortunately, Bonners Ferry got revenge on Clark Fork taking them down in five sets 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 18-25, 7-15.

“We didn’t play the best we’ve played this season but we didn’t play bad,” Clark Fork head coach Michelle Valliere said. “Bonners Ferry just had a couple more things go their way. Sometimes game are like that where certain plays or certain calls just land in another team’s favor and they were kind of able to gain momentum with some of that stuff that happened.”

Senior libero Aleehia Valliere led the Lady Cats with 30 digs and freshman setter Paige Valliere orchestrated Clark Fork’s offensive attack with 23 assists. Sophomore Caiya Yanik blasted nine kills, senior middle hitter Sophie McMahon grabbed four blocks and senior outside hitter Ellie Kiebert served three aces.

Despite the loss, Michelle Valliere said her team did a lot of good things against Bonners Ferry.

We’ve been working a lot on tip coverage and they’ve improved on that our passing was good, work more on kills not just tips or easy hits over the net

“We played right along with them,” she said. “The game could have gone either way, but it just came down to a couple balls that went their way and a couple calls that went their way and if it would’ve happened opposite, we would’ve won.”

The Lady Cats will stay on the road to face Priest River 7 p.m. tonight.
