William 'BillY' Mullaley (WRITE-IN)
1. I was on city council for eight years, and then was mayor for four years. I sit and watch our city slowly seem to fade away into the distance. The place I grew up in is no longer here. Jobs are gone as the industry has changed. I would like to put Priest River back on the map. So my inspiration is I see a vision and I want to make this vision a reality.
2. I am a people person. I have a way with people, and I have been told I know no strangers. Put me in a room with 50 people and by the end of the night I will have met them all. I try to make everyone feel at ease; it keeps the tension from building up.
3. One thing that comes to mind our water quality is very poor. Yes, you can drink it but a lot of people don’t and it is for good reason. Water should not have a taste to it. If the council could communicate with the public on how we could accommodate our water issue, then maybe more people would get involved. That seems to be a big problem nobody really cares about, they just live with it.
4. Putting in a well. Our water is coming from the river and it has to be mixed with chlorine in order for it to be safe to drink. I would like to figure out how we can get good quality water without raising everyone’s rates. We are paying $100.60 per month. Yes we have had upgrades, but we still have to use a lot of chlorine in our water.
5. I am not running to create a legacy, I am running to help out our community.
I would love it if our children and grandchildren had a town they can be very proud of. One they can call home and not want to move away from. Want to stay and raise their family here. We have a great community, but I think our leadership is failing us.
6. I would have an open door policy. If people want to get a hold of me they can call me, we can talk on the phone or meet somewhere in person. I have no problem discussing what is on their mind.
7. Rolling up my sleeves and getting to the bottom of it all and seeing what we can do to get things moving forward. One thing people will learn about me, if I say I am going to do something I am going in all the way. I really mean to help out our city.
8. There are some who might call it criticism, I call it lessons learned. People will always be on one side or the other. You cannot please everyone. What you can do is listen to what the people want and try and get it done for them. You just have to take it and remember you are representing them and try to see it through their eyes and hopefully you can get through to them.
9. Get out and vote. Whether you vote for me or not as long as you vote. See that is another thing that is down. Our voters don’t come out and vote like they used to. Remember this, you need to be accessible as a council person. You cannot go put your head in the sand and try to hide. A vote for me is a vote for a better future for Priest River.
10. Why should I vote for you?
Because I am the answer you need. I am the person that will try to get it done. I am the person you can depend on when you need help. I plan on being there for you the people and the city of Priest River.
