Oct. 20, 1969 — DOVER MAN GRADUATES

Hospitalman Apprentice Gary D. Walson, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence C. Walson, Dover, was graduated from the 14-week basic Hospital Corps School, San Diego, Calif.

HELPS EARN CITATION

Airman First Class Robert J. Friesen, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Friesen, 409 S. Lavina, has been recognized for helping his unit earn a citation from the Republic of Vietnam. Airman Friesen, an aircraft mechanic at Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam, is assigned to the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing.

ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Murphy, Aberdeen, Wash., announce the engagement of their daughter, Sharon Rae, to David Ray Meredith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Meredith, Clark Fork. Miss Murphy graduated in May from Brigham Young University School of Nursing and is employed at the Latter Day Saints Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Meredith, a Clark Fork High graduate, attended the U of I and is presently in the Army in Vietnam.

SCHOOL BOARD OKs LAND PURCHASE

School District No. 82 trustees voted Tuesday to proceed with purchasing the Tillberg property adjacent to Sandpoint Senior High for $26,000. About seven acres, the land will be used as an addition to the present high school site.

Oct. 20, 1919 — CITY BREVITIES

Walter Franck this week built a slab roof over the welcome arch at the First ave. (west) end of the Cedar street bridge, ordered by the city dads to prevent havoc among the wires of the lighting system by short circuits from rainy weather.

Chris Peterson has opened a soft drink parlor and cigar stand in the building once occupied by the old Stockholm bar on First avenue.

Mrs. Delta Sheler from now on will be the Stirella corsetiere. Anyone needing corsets please give her a call. Phone 219-J.

COUNTY NURSING MOVEMENT URGED

County Superintendent Miss Le Huquet has sent letters to the county’s several school districts calling the attention to the Red Cross movement for organizing classes in home nursing and hygiene. Classes are for adult women, as well as mature girls enrolled in eighth grade who do not plan to continue on to high school studies.

INCOME TAXES NOW PAYABLE AT BOISE

Recognizing the importance of giving Idaho citizens better service in the matter of payment of federal government taxes, the bureau of internal revenue has established at Boise an office of collector of internal revenue. In the past Idaho taxpayers have sent their returns to the collector’s office at Helena, Mont.
