Dennis Ralph LaValley, 77

Dennis Ralph LaValley, 77, passed away on Wednes-day, Oct. 16, 2019 in Sand-point, Idaho. Private family services have been held.

Dennis was born on June 15, 1942, in Superior, Wis., to Ralph and Ruth LaValley. He graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, Mich. He then earned his bachelor’s degree from Hillsdale College and master’s degree from Ball State University.

He married Seija Vuori in Helsinki, Finland, on August 12, 1970. Dennis worked as a teacher and coach for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in England, Germany, Turkey, and Italy. His last two years he was an assistant principal in South Korea and Giessen, Germany.

Dennis moved to Sandpoint in 2001 where he enjoyed working as a mountain host at Schweitzer Mountain, and golfing at the Elks Golf Course. His love was football.

His is survived by his wife, Seija LaValley of Sandpoint; two children, Minna (James) Ahlmann of Parker, Colo., and Mikko (Liz) LaValley of Berlin, Germany; 5 grandchildren, Anneli, Kaija, Dayne, Jake and Luke; and a sister, Mary Jo (Alex) Andruszkiewicz of Livonia, Mich.
