It's a scary good time on the entertainment scene

SANDPOINT — There is so much fun on tap heading into Halloween it’s downright scary.

From Halloween parties to a haunted house, from live music, movies and dance, you’re guaranteed to have great time as the community ratchet up the fun level headed into Halloween next week.

We’re keeping this short so you can dive right into the fun.

THURSDAY, OCT. 24

Children’s Halloween Party:

Venue: Kaniksu Health Services, 420 N. Second Ave.

Time: 4:30-6:30 p.m.,

Face painting, free costumes (while supplies last), games and prizes, and free popcorn; also a chance to win great prizes.

Trivia Takeover

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St.

Time: 6-8 p.m.

Create a team with friends and family or play solo. Questions are fun and challenging and always new. Prizes awarded for winning teams.

‘Scarywood’

Venue: Silverwood Theme Park, Highway 95 in Athol.

Time: 7 p.m. – Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings in October.

‘The Death of Dick Long’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

A dark and weird comedy from the director of “Swiss Army Man”, with stellar performances by Michael Abbot Jr (“Mud”), Virginia Newcomb (“The Walking Dead”) and Andre Hyland. The film revolves around the death of Dick, two men who want to keep it secret, and the all-round ineptitude of the cast of characters in small-town Alabama. Rated R.

Hickey Farms Pumpkin Patch Harvest Festival

Venue: Hickey Farms, located off of Highway 200 at 674 Hickey Rd., east of Sandpoint and Kootenai.

Time: 3 p.m.-dusk, Fridays through October; 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays.

Festival family fun with a pumpkin patch, crafts for sale, and more.

The Zombie Nest

Venue: Hoot Owl parking lot, 30784 Highway 200, Ponderay

Time: 5-8 p.m.

The living dead have arrived in town to scare up for Halloween fun as LPOHS students’ bring to live a fun haunted house as a fundraiser for the school’s trip to Washington, D.C. and New York in June 2020

Admission: $5 “per soul.”

Bare Grass Trio

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St.

Time: 5-8 p.m

A stand-up bass, mandolin and guitar come together from different backgrounds to create a unique sound. Americana, mixed with a little bluegrass and blues and whatever else is conjured up for the evening performance is what makes BareGrass tick. John Edwards (bass), Luke Levesque (mandolin) and Jared Johnston (guitar) all write their own songs and enjoy performing in and around the area.

Right Front Burner

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St.

Right Front Burner (RFB to those in the know) is Sandpoint’s finest party band featuring funk, disco, rock and groovy tunes.

Southside Community Harvest Festival Contra Dance

Venue: Barn Again, 54 Cocolalla Loop Road

Time: 7-10 p.m.

The Liabilities

One of the region’s top old school R&B, funk and classic rock bands. The Liabilities, led by the Packwood brothers, Sheldon on bass and Rob on guitar, who have played together on top-40 recordings and a huge variety of stages including the Grand Ol’ Opry, Texas Motor Speedway, and many more.

Three Nights of Halloween

SATURDAY, OCT. 26

Indoors Farmers Market

Venue: Bonner Mall, Bonner Mall Way, Ponderay

Time: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (Also Saturday, Nov. 9)

The market is moving indoors for a few weeks so head on over to enjoy sights and sounds and tastes of the market and keep the season alive.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Local Writers’ Festival

Venue: Sandpoint Library, 1407 Cedar St.

Time: 9 am.-3 p.m.

This free Local Authors’ Festival brings together published and amateur writers to celebrate the craft. The event includes interactive writers’ workshops, a locally published author showcase, and readings. Anyone can participate in a 7-minute readings contest. Prepared and impromptu submissions welcome.

An introduction to the upcoming NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) initiative will be included. Library staff will discuss the basis of NaNoWriMo and tips for achieving the goal of writing 50,000 words in the thirty days of November. The schedule of library-sponsored NaNoWriMo Write-in’s will be available there.

Southside Community Harvest Festival

Venue: Southside Community Church, 251 Cocolalla Loop Road

Time:9 a.m.-4 p.m.

This harvest festival has it all — live music, performances, free activities for kids, including a bounce castle, mini golf, face painting and a craft area as well as local food and craft vendors and displays by community organizations.

‘From Lucca With Love’

Venue: Ivano’s Ristorante, 102 S. First Ave.

Author Pam Lippi celebrates the launch of her second novel, “From Lucca with Love”, which features tales from the family’s Italian heritage richly steeped in culture and passed through generations of love.

‘Boo Bash’ Costume Ball Social Dance

Venue: Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave.

Time: 7-10 p.m.

The fun will begin with a one-hour dance lesson taught by a professional instructor, followed by general dancing, refreshments, door prizes, mixers, prizes for the best costumes, and a drawing for a month of free dance classes. Singles, couples, and all levels of dancers are welcome!

Kevin Brown Album Release Concert
