Fall into the fun of halloween, autumn festivities

It’s a busy week of fall festivities from Halloween trick-or-treating at the Bonner County Museum and Lions Den to trick-or-treating at Sandpoint City Hall. There’s also a warming station at Christ Our Redeemer Church and for those who like a little spookiness with the Halloween, Lake Pend Oreille High School is again hosting The Zombie Nest haunted house at the north end of the Hoot Owl parking lot.

Let’s dive right in and get to all of the entertainment treats.

THURSDAY, Oct. 31

Halloween Trick-or-Treat

Venue: Sandpoint City Hall, 1123 Lake St.

Time: 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Calling all zomboys and ghouls. Sandpoint officials and employees invite school-age children to begin their Halloween celebrations with trick-or-treating at City Hall from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Sandpoint City Hall, 1123 Lake St. (between Ella and Olive, right across from Pine Street Park). City Council Chambers will be decorated, passing out candy, and a special dance presentation of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” by the Parks & Rec. Acro-Dance Show Troupe.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Bonner County History Museum Trick-or-Treat

Venue: Bonner County History Museum, 611 S. Ella St., and Sandpoint Lions Den

Time: 4-7 p.m.

Enjoy safe, fun, and free trick-or-treating and check out the Halloween-decorated museum in all its spooky glory! Plus, the Lions Den will have warm drinks and sweet treats.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Halloween Warm-up Station

Venue: Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1900 Pine St.

Time: 4-8 p.m.

Looking for somewhere to park on Halloween? Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church will have their parking lot open and a great warming station to help fend off the cold. There will be mac ‘n’ cheese, warm drinks, fire pits and covered seating. Parking lot is open all evening; warming station open 4-8 p.m.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

The Zombie Nest

Venue: Hoot Owl parking lot, 30784 Highway 200, Ponderay

Time: 5-8 p.m. (Also Friday and Saturday)

The living dead have arrived in town to scare up for Halloween fun as LPOHS students’ bring to live a fun haunted house as a fundraiser for the school’s trip to Washington, D.C. and New York in June 2020

Admission: $5 “per soul.”

Three Nights of Halloween

Venue: A&P’s Bar & Grill, 222 N. First Ave.

Time: 10 p.m.

Tonight, it’s a costume contest for everyone.

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

Halloween at the 219

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 N. First Ave.

Time: All day

Start your Halloween weekend at the Niner. Drink specials, prizes for creative costumes and candy.

Dress Up As Dave Contest

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-7 p.m.

Too soon? We think not! We all miss Dave, so break out your fake (or real!) beard, newsboy or trucker cap, and your best flannel and toast everyone’s favorite bearded “beertender!” The best “Dave” wins a $25 Mickduff’s gift certificate!

FRIDAY, Nov. 1

Elephant Gun Riot

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 N. First Ave.

Time: 9 p.m.-midnight

Celebrate Halloween at the Two-One-Niner with Spokane’s Elephant Gun Riot. One of the regions top modern hard rock bands.

Admission: Free for those 21 and over.

POAC’s First Friday

Venue: Old Power House, 120 E. Lake St.; and POAC Gallery, 110 Main St.; and downtown businesses

Time: 4-7 p.m., downtown businesses; 5-7 p.m., exhibits

Keeping with First Friday tradition, downtown businesses will be open late with specials from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sharon’s Hallmark, Azalea Handpicked Style, Carousel Emporium, Zwazo Niche, Meadowbrook, Outdoor Experience, Mary Ruth’s Gift Market, Burl Wood Dreams, Eve’s Leaves, The Pickled Kitchen, Northwest Handmade, Cabi, Bella Terra Boutique, ShakaPaw and ArtWorks are participating to prove that a little bit of dirt in the street can’t stop them in their tracks.

Friends of the Library Used Book Sale

Venue: East Bonner County Library, 1407 Cedar St.

Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The bookshelves are full just in time to get ready for winter’s long, dark days. Just imagine yourself sitting in front of a warm fire all snuggled up with your favorite mystery or standing in your toasty kitchen looking for the perfect cookie recipe. To help you, this month’s book sale will have a variety of offerings for your pleasure. To help you with the holidays, we are featuring a selection for better books suitable for gifting, Christmas cook books, crafts and home décor. There will be sets of books including westerns, classics, Better Homes and Gardens cook books and a large collection of children’s DVDs. As a special incentive, all CDs are 10 cents.

Eagles Dinner Fundraiser

Flamenco Pacifico

Venue: Heartwood Center, 615 Oak St.

A dynamic, professional performance group, Flamenco Pacifico is dedicated to bringing the art of flamenco music and dance to audiences. Led by virtuoso flamenco guitarist and composer, Berto Boyd, the group’s guitar-driven performances feature original modern flamenco compositions rooted in the time-honored forms of traditional flamenco. With inspired dancing by Elena Villa and Melissa Cruz, the passionate vocals and guitar artistry of guitarist/singer Grant Ruiz, and driving rhythms by dynamic percussionist Terry Longshore, Flamenco Pacifico takes audiences on an unforgettable journey into the fascinating world of flamenco.
