It's time to hold Dixon accountable to his constituents

| September 1, 2019 1:00 AM

Our state representative, Sage Dixon, recently attended the ALEC Conference in Austin, Texas. For those unfamiliar with ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council, it is an organization financed by corporate America, including the Koch brothers, aimed at writing legislation to support corporate interest. Too often this legislation is contrary to the interest of ordinary Americans.

Perhaps this explains Sage Dixon’s leadership during the last legislative session to destroy the citizen ballot initiative process. After the Idaho voters were successful in getting the Medicaid initiative on the ballot and subsequently getting it passed with 61% of the vote, Sage Dixon began to put one obstacle after another before his committee in an attempt to get rid of the initiative process and to deny the rights of his very own constituents. Why?

Follow the money and you find that Sage Dixon’s donations come primarily from corporations rather than from the personal donations of his constituents. So who does Sage represent? Answering this question will reveal the truth behind his motivations. It is time to hold Sage accountable to the people he represents.

Corporate America can work for both their bottom line and in the interests of the people. They will only do so if ordinary people stand up and say “ enough is enough.”
