Sept. 3, 1969 — BIG KAMLOOPS CAUGHT

Sunday was a lucky day for George Weisshaar of Garfield Bay, fishing for the first time in about six weeks, in the Windy point area. He caught a 17 lb. 9 oz. Kamloops that struck a white point special Mac Squid plug trolled on a monel line. His was the biggest one registered for the weekend at Kamloops Anchorage at Garfield Bay, Mrs. Billie Morrow reported.

JESSE CRITCHELL IN VIETNAM

Marine Pvt. 1c Jesse E. Critchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. Critchell, Dover, is serving with the Second Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment, third Marine Division in Vietnam. His battalion is conducting sweep and clear operations just south of the de-militarized zone.

HOPE NEWS

The 116th Idaho National Guard was expected back in the states around Aug. 29. Edward Butler, son of Eugene and Mrs. Vernise Butler, is a member of this unit that has been serving in Vietnam for the past year.

Sept. 3, 1919 — ELKS TO HAVE LODGE

Local members of the Elks are greatly pleased over news that they have been granted a dispensation for organizing a lodge. They have worked very hard for this purpose for nearly year and it is likely their hopes will be realized within a few weeks. The part the order played in the war has given a big impetus to the organization and they expect to have one of the peppiest lodges of any city of this size in the country.

TEACHERS OWN THE CITY TODAY

There is scarcely a man, woman or child in Sandpoint today who does not in some way feel the responsibility of a host or hostess to the big gathering of Boundary, Benewah, Shoshone, Bonner and Kootenai county teachers that have come in response to Sandpoint’s invitation, to hold their annual joint institute.

Our own county superintendent, Miss Le Huquet, has been indefatigable in lining up the numberless preparation details that have fallen to her because she was the one on the ground, and the one held responsible, in a way, for the successful carrying out of local plans.

PRESIDENT IN IDAHO SEPT. 12

President Wilson will make an address at Coeur d’Alene Friday morning, the 12th, as part of his swing round the circle to explain the league of nations.
