Program tells the tales found underneath our feet

It’s a story as old as time and one just underfoot. The tale? “Beneath our feet: The geological story of Northeast Washington” is a program that will be given by guest geologist Michael Hamilton on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The program, which runs from 6-8 p.m, will be held at Create Arts Center, 900 West 4th Street, Newport.

The program is open to the public with donations accepted at the door. Refreshments/drinks will be served

“The geologic story of northeast Washington state goes way back billions of years,” said Hamilton in press release on the program. “Each chapter of this story has left behind a geologic feature (or two) that reveals some detail about that ancient event. Let us time travel from the earliest to the latest, and take a look at what happened “beneath our feet” that formed the land as we see it today.”

Hamilton has been a geologist since getting his bachelor and master of science degrees at Indiana University. His professional work runs through the Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Bureau of Mines, Washington Department of Natural Resources, and teaching at both elementary and college level as well as Road Scholar and loads of community groups. Currently, Michael is on the board of the IAFI) Ice Age Flood Institute/Cheney Chapter, where he is running field trips.
